About this exam
Spelling competition run via NSW Arts Unit. School heats → regional finals → state finals. Junior division (Y3-4) and Senior division (Y5-6) for primary; Y7-8 separately.

Worth it if your kid likes words. Even at the school-heats level it builds a habit of curiosity about word origins. Not selection-relevant but a confidence-builder if your kid is the type who reads ahead of grade level. Tiny prep cost, low downside.
